Take part

Bring what you have noticed.

No platform or polished argument is required. Bring lived experience, a question, a useful correction or something the project has not yet noticed.

The simplest way in

Begin with one thoughtful letter.

A new essay, one practical idea and a short note from Shannon. No daily noise or manufactured urgency.

Share a story

Tell the truth only you can tell.

Contribute thoughtful writing about connection, change, identity, community, technology, ageing or hope.

Improve a project

Help practical work become more useful.

Suggest a trusted resource, a missing perspective or a change that would make one of our projects clearer and kinder.

Share an idea

Point us towards a question.

Tell us what is changing in everyday life, what deserves more patient attention or what a better system could make possible.

Care before scale

What to expect when you contact us.

Add to the project notebook

Tell us about one place where people can simply be.

A library table, a weekly club, a bench, a café, a garden or somewhere less obvious. We are looking for small, concrete observations—not polished success stories.

What is the place?

What makes entering or returning feel easy?

What can somebody do there without having to make conversation?

What would make it kinder or more welcoming?

Share an observation Nothing will be quoted or published without a separate conversation and your clear permission.

A steady rhythm

Made carefully, not for the algorithm.

Our aim is a small, dependable collection each month—enough to return to, never so much that care becomes content churn.

  1. One useful pieceAn idea translated into something a person can try, question or carry with them.
  2. One human storyLived experience that makes a larger change recognisable.
  3. One project improvementA careful addition to work already helping people today.

Someone else needed this too

Short reflections, held with the same care as full stories.

Living Library guides invite one-sentence reflections from adults. They are not comments and never appear automatically.

Before publication, we will:

  • read for safety and remove identifying details;
  • contact you with the exact proposed wording;
  • ask for explicit written permission;
  • credit you anonymously or by an agreed pseudonym.

We may decline a reflection, and you may withdraw before publication. Email is not monitored as a crisis service.

Offer a sentence

Contribute a story

Bring a life the headlines cannot show.

Professional experience is not required, and a story need not be dramatic. Honesty, care and lived experience matter more than polish.

What to send

A personal piece of roughly 600–1,500 words about an experience or idea that may help another person feel less alone.

What to protect

Remove identifying details about other people and anything that could place you or somebody else at risk.

What happens next

Every piece is read before publication. Editing is collaborative, and submitting does not guarantee publication.

Who can submit

Submissions are currently open to adults aged 18 or over. You may write under your name, a pseudonym or anonymously.
