Who is responsible for your information?

Bridging Tomorrow is the data controller for personal information sent directly to us. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@bridgingtomorrow.com.

What we collect

The current website does not offer user accounts or public profiles. If you join the monthly letter, we store your email address and the time you subscribed. If you email us or contribute to the project, we may also receive your name if you provide it, the contents of your message or submission, your communication preferences and related correspondence.

Our hosting and security providers may process limited technical information—such as IP addresses, browser details and request logs—to deliver and protect the site. External websites you visit from our links apply their own privacy policies.

Why we use it

• To send occasional updates when you have asked to receive them.
• To answer enquiries, ideas and resource suggestions.
• To review, edit and administer journal submissions.
• To respond to concerns about the site or its community.
• To operate, secure and improve the website.

We use your consent to send updates, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying or emailing us. We generally rely on our legitimate interests for other communication and site operations. Where publication involves your personal information or sensitive aspects of your life, we will seek clear written approval before publishing. Sending a submission is not permission to publish it.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. Information may be handled by service providers that support hosting, security and email, only as needed to provide those services. We may disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed. Contact details used for updates are kept until you unsubscribe or the update service ends. General enquiries and unpublished submissions are normally deleted within 12 months after the conversation or editorial decision ends, unless there is a safeguarding, legal or operational reason to keep them longer. Records connected with published work may be retained while the work remains available and for a reasonable archival period afterwards.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your information; object to its use; receive a portable copy; or withdraw consent. The right to object applies where we rely on legitimate interests. To make a request, email us. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Young people and changes

The public site can be read by anyone, but journal submissions are currently accepted only from people aged 18 or over. We may update this notice when the site or the way we work changes; the date above will show the latest revision.

Safe browsing

If somebody else may see your device

Use a private or incognito window if that is safer for you, but remember that private browsing does not hide activity from an employer, school, internet provider or network administrator. Consider notification previews, saved passwords, downloads, autofill, bookmarks and browser history before leaving a shared device.

The menu includes a quick link to BBC Weather for leaving the site, but it cannot erase your history or guarantee privacy. If clearing history could itself place you at risk, trust your knowledge of your situation and use a safer device or network where possible.

Do not send Bridging Tomorrow personal information that you would not feel safe storing in your email account. You may use a pseudonym and a separate email address when contacting us.
